Brandon Wills, DO, FASAM is a physician specializing in addiction medicine, emergency medicine, and medical toxicology. Over the past 25 years, his career has evolved from academic emergency medicine and medical toxicology to a primary focus on addiction medicine. He serves as Medical Director of the MOTIVATE outpatient substance use disorder clinic, Fellowship Director for the Addiction Medicine Fellowship, and an attends the inpatient Addiction Consult Service at VCU Health. Dr. Wills also directs the Virginia Naloxone Project and serves on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Society of Addiction Medicine (VaSAM), where he chairs the Education Committee.

1. How would your election to the ASAM Board of Directors benefit ASAM and the field of addiction medicine?
I would bring a perspective that integrates clinical care, physician education, chapter leadership, organizational governance, and the implementation of addiction treatment across healthcare systems. My experience as an Addiction Medicine Fellowship Director, Medical Director of the MOTIVATE Clinic, Virginia ASAM chapter leader, and former member of a national board has provided me with a broad understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing both our specialty and professional organizations. I believe these experiences would enable me to contribute thoughtfully to ASAM's strategic priorities and future growth.
2. Candidate Statement
I would be honored to serve on the ASAM Board of Directors because I believe strongly in ASAM’s mission and the important role it plays in advancing addiction medicine, supporting clinicians, and improving care for individuals with substance use disorders.
Over the past 25 years, my career has evolved from academic emergency medicine and medical toxicology to a primary focus on addiction medicine. As Medical Director of the MOTIVATE Clinic, an attending on the Inpatient Addiction Consult Service, and Addiction Medicine Fellowship Director at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, I have worked across the continuum of addiction care while helping train the next generation of addiction medicine physicians.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has been an important part of my growth as an addiction medicine physician and leader. Through service on the Virginia ASAM Board of Directors and as Chair of its Education Committee, I have gained a deep appreciation for the importance of member engagement, professional development, and chapter leadership. In addition, my recent service on the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology provided valuable experience in organizational governance, strategic planning, and stewardship of a national professional society.
I would welcome the opportunity to bring these experiences to the ASAM Board and help advance the future of addiction medicine.
